        Aernout Mik

        artist, Amsterdam

      2. Aernout Mik (born 1962) is an artist whose video installations, sculptures, and performances allow for a reflective engagement between spectator and artwork. He was awarded the A.H. Heineken Prize for Art in 2002. He represented the Netherlands in the Dutch Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale, Venice, 2007 with multiple works and an architectural intervention in the pavilion under the title Citizens and Subjects: Aernout Mik, curated by Maria Hlavajova. Mik’s recent exhibitions include: Aernout Mik, Centre PasquArt, Biel, 2016; Parallelities, Art Sonje Center, Seoul, 2015; Cardboard Walls, BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht, 2014; Communitas, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Amsterdam, 2013, Jeu de Paume, Paris, 2011, and Museum Folkwang, Essen, 2011; Reactivation, Power Station of Art, 9th Shanghai Biennale, Shanghai, 2012; and Aernout Mik, CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid, 2012.
