      1. Catalog accompanying the 5th Berlin Biennale, When things cast no shadow, curated by Adam Szymcyzck and Elena Filipovic. The biennale took place from 05.04–15.6.2008 in KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Neue Nationalgalerie, Skulpturenpark Berlin Zentrum, the Schinkel Pavilion, and other venues connected to the evening program Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours, which hosted an artist talk, presentation, performance, or event every night of the exhibition’s 10-week run. While some complained that the curators did not manage to articulate a strong conceptual basis for the exhibition, they did voice a desire to work against certain biennale conventions (for example, by hosting a pre-opening before the official opening to downplay the usually spectacular opening weekend, or though the night program, which attempted to create sustained interest and encourage the participation of the local scene). Outstanding works by relatively unknown young artists such as Mona Vătămanu and Florin Tudor, Ania Molska, Ahmet Öğüt, Kateřina Šedá, or David Maljković were highlights in this ambitious yet uneven exhibition. Other exhibited artists included: Goshka Macuga, Melvin Moti, Nairy Baghramian, Manon de Boer, Gabriel Kuri, Paul Sietsema, Pushwanger, Tris Vonna-Michell, etc.
