Virilio’s 1975 work, which appeared in French to accompany an exhibition of his photographs at the Centre Pompidou. This book is half-theory, half-visual essay in which Virilio ruminates on abandoned German bunkers off the coast of France, and how their presence haunts the contemporary European scene. In his later works, Virilio goes on to widely expand the analysis of military space he presents here.
