A significant exchange between three key philosophers on notions of hegemony, universality as a relevant political category, multiculturalism, globalization, and a wide range of other contemporary issues, at the end of which two of the protagonists (Laclau and Žižek) determine that the (surprising) outcome of their exchange is that they can no longer engage in a productive dialogue. See in particular Žižek’s ‘Holding the Place,’ in which he vigorously attacks Laclau and explains the root of their clash over what might constitute a radical political project today.
