      1. A substantial catalog which accompanies the exhibition The Promises of the Past 1950–2010, A Discontinuous History of Art in former Eastern Europe, curated by Joanna Mytkowska and Christine Macel, Centre Pompidou, Paris (14 April–19 July 2010). As an exhibition that took place twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Promises of the Past sought to critique and challenge the Cold War opposition between Eastern and Western Europe by reinterpreting the history of art in the former Eastern bloc countries, thereby questioning notions of periphery and center. Exhibited artists from different generations both within and outside that region included: Marina Abramovic, Yael Bartana, Tacita Dean, Liam Gillick, Sanja Ivekovic, Július Koller, Jiri Kovanda, David Maljkovic, Marjetica Potrc, and Monika Sosnowska. The catalog contains an important anthology of previously published texts as well as art documentation and new essays. Curator Joanna Mytkowska (Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw) is a partner in the FORMER WEST project.
