An elaboration and extension of Venn’s earlier book Occidentalism, this volume further considers postcolonial studies as a discipline and field for thinking, and imagines ways in which it might be activated to analyze and understand urgent global issues such as environmental catastrophe, terrorism, migration, etc. It proposes a ‘transmodern thinking’ which combines the postcolonial and postoccidental to imagine a different future. See chapter 1 ‘Rethinking the scope of the postcolonial’ and chapter 4 ‘Towards a postcolonial political economy.’
